The teams for this evening’s clash between Chelsea and Manchester City have been announced, and neither side has fielded a recognised striker!
Maurizio Sarri will have known heading into this fixture that he needed to get his team selection spot on in order to have any hope of overcoming unbeaten Premier League leaders Man City. He looks intent on beating the visitors at their own game!
With Pep Guardiola confirming in his pre-match press conference that Sergio Aguero would miss the game through injury, and Gabriel Jesus struggling for form at late, Sarri may have predicted that City would come to the Bridge without a striker in the eleven.
He will have been right to make that presumption, and he himself has opted to field Eden Hazard through the middle, rather than Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata. The latter is not even included in the matchday squad.
Jorginho returns in midfield, with Mateo Kovacic being preferred to the in form Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Here’s how we lineup in full. What do you think, Blues?
