Andriy Shevchenko believes that the goals will come for Alvaro Morata – he just needs to be a little more clinical.
In the run up to Chelsea’s Europa League group stage clash with MOL Vidi, Morata had scored just one goal in his previous 17 games for the Blues. For a player of his calibre, and considering the money we spent on him, that’s nowhere near good enough.
Chelsea fans feared that history was repeating itself and the second coming of Fernando Torres was upon us. After two goals in two games, Morata will have confidence that he will not suffer the same fate as his compatriot.
Shevchenko is confident that Morata can dig himself out the dirt, too. The former Ballon D’Or winner, who himself struggled to score in Chelsea blue, believes that Morata just needs to rediscover his touch in the penalty box – and the goals will come.
Shevchenko is quoted by Goal saying:
“The main thing is that Morata has chances. He just needs to become more clinical in front of goal. If he does that, he will start to score a lot, very soon.”
Morata has looked rather hopeless at times, but this isn’t a club that gives up on people that easily. We will be backing Morta to get back to his best and prove he is the right man to lead our attack.
