Danny Drinkwater might not be getting a look-in under Maurizio Sarri, but he’s keen to continue to steal a living at Chelsea.
That’s according to the Telegraph, who report that Drinkwater is in ‘no hurry’ to leave Chelsea. Drinkwater is earning £100K-a-week, per the report. Why would he leave? He’s not going to get a figure close to that elsewhere.
You’d think that a player in their prime, who was formerly an England international and Premier League champion, would be keen on playing regularly and replicating that success.
However, Drinkwater appears keen on collecting his wages and enjoying the status of being a Chelsea player. After all, no club of our calibre is going to so much as consider signing him after the way he’s played for us.
The Telegraph report that Drinkwater has already cost Chelsea over £40M, with that figure set to rise if he continues to refuse to leave. Here is as good of an example as you’ll find of the sorry state of modern football.
