Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is pleased his passing is being recognised.

He boasts a 93.8 per cent pass completion rate in the Premier League.

“It all depends on what type of game it is and recently we’ve played against a lot of sides who have sat deep, so the only option has been for me to play the ball to the sides,” Christensen tells the official Chelsea website.

“I don’t focus too much on statistics, I just like to focus on what’s best for my team in certain situations. Sometimes it can look easy when you play a simple pass but, when possible, I like to try to play the ball forward.

“Yes, it’s important,” he adds, when asked about the significance of using the ball well. “Also, I’m the last man so it’s important I don’t try to be ridiculously brave, I have to be careful. Sometimes keeping it simple and just moving the ball helps the team build a good rhythm, that’s my job and then I can focus on my defensive work as well.”
