Now here’s some concerning news…
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have already prepared a contingency plan in case they lose goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Courtois developed into one of the best goalkeepers on the planet during his three-year loan stint at Atletico Madrid. After returning to Stamford Bridge and forcing his way past club legend Petr Cech and into the starting eleven, he continued to showcase his ability to the world.
The Belgian has won two Premier League titles in three years as a Blue, as well as picking up the Golden Glove last time around. The prospect of Courtois departing SW6 is one that none of us are keen to entertain, but unfortunately it is by no means unthinkable.
The Daily Mail report that Courtois is wanted by European heavyweights PSG and Real Madrid. As you well know, his contract expires in 2019, and the report claims that he has shown no willingness to extend his deal beyond that.
As per the Daily Mail, Stoke City’s Jack Butland has already been lined up as a potential replacement for Courtois should he depart. This is a concerning situation and one to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
