Since recovering from a broken ankle which kept him out of the opening games of the season, Hazard has shone on the pitch.
He has so far scored six goals in all competitions, including four during his last five appearances.
Lampard however feels that Hazard needs to score more and thinks that he will do so if he is made to play more centrally.
“He’s been a constant over recent seasons,” Lampard said on BT Sport ahead of tonight’s 4-0 win over Qarabag.
“He creates so much, goals can be a bit short, that’s the one question that we have when we speak about Eden Hazard, and we speak about him regularly, is his goals.
“But I think the position he is playing more this season gets him closer to the goal. He’s playing centrally.
“I do like seeing him in these central roles, we’re not going to see too many headers from Eden Hazard but by getting in those positions, goals come.
“I do think he is the magic in this Chelsea team.
“There are other great players in the team, but when he’s on it he really does make the difference.”
