Chelsea are in the running to sign Bordeaux attacking midfielder Malcom, according to Mercato365.
Mercato 365 note that Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich all hold an interest in signing the 20-year-old.
Who is Malcom?
Malcom arrived at Bordeaux as an 18-year-old in winter 2016 and wasted no time in establishing himself as a first-team regular.
His stellar performances in a Bordeaux shirt, soon after his arrival at the Matmut Atlantique, earned him his first call-up to the Brazil U23 side. Though he is yet to make his debut for the senior side, you have to think that it’s only a matter of time.
Malcom can play in any of the three positions behind the centre-forward, whether it be out wide or in the centre. His mazy dribbling resembles compatriot Willian, and he has a rocket of a left-foot; Hulk-esque, one could say. The Shanghai SIPG forward has developed a reputation in recent years of having one of the most powerful shots in the world, Malcom isn’t far behind!
Should Chelsea sign him?
If Chelsea’s interest in Malcom is genuine, it seems difficult to believe he’d be signed to improve Antonio Conte’s first-team squad. An effective, and lucrative, strategy used by the club in recent years is to sign young players on the cheap, develop them out on loan and sell them on for profit, take Bertrand Traore for example. Malcom would likely be the latest cog in Marina Granovskaia’s money-making machine.
