Chelsea’s Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has accepted that it was a mistake for him to re-join the Los Blancos especially after the way they treated him in his first stint at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 25-year-old Spaniard returned to Real Madrid in 2016 after spending two seasons with Italian champions Juventus when the Los Blancos triggered his buy-back clause. Morata now claims that he was treated like a child at Real Madrid.
Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Morata said, “We had a contract agreement that we had to respect. I was really disappointed as I went back to being at square one…before I moved to Italy I was treated like a kid, and I should never have re-joined Madrid.”
Morata also pointed out the difference between the La Liga, Serie A and the Premier League as he said, “In Spain they prefer technique, in Italy, tactics dominate but it is also supplemented by quality. In England, the most important aspect is physicality.”
On being asked if he would like to return to Italy in the future, Morata stated, “Yes, very much! My wife wants to live in Spain and me in Italy, so London is a compromise!”
