Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has heaped praise on Belgian attacker Eden Hazard after the 26-year-old inspired the Blues to a 1-0 win over Bournemouth last night.
Hazard scored the only goal of the game, his first league goal of the season, and at times, looked at his mesmerizing best, constantly troubling the Cherries backline.
Lampard was delighted by his former teammate’s display and claimed that Hazard has developed into a top class player during his time at Stamford Bridge.
“He’s a great talent. The Bournemouth players were very scared to get near to him.”

Speaking to BT Sport, as reported by the Daily Star, Lampard said, “From the moment Hazard came to Chelsea his talent was on display, but he’s developed as a player.”
“Now he’s at that point in his career when he has to be the dominant player in that Chelsea team and make things happen. And he’s doing it. We keep talking about trying to stay with the top teams who are flying and you need your best players to step up.”
Record signing Alvaro Morata fluffed his lines last night but Lampard insisted that Chelsea need not worry since they have other top players like Hazard who stepped in to seal the win.
“Morata missed those chances today so you need to next player to step up and that was Hazard. He’s a great talent. A club like Chelsea can’t be reliant on one player and I don’t want to talk down Pedro and Willian who had fantastic seasons last year.”
“But for moments of magic and little clips of skill, the Bournemouth players were very scared of Eden Hazard tonight,” the former Chelsea midfielder added.
Chelsea’s win maintains their fourth placed position in the league table, nine points behind leaders Manchester City. The Blues next take on Roma in the Champions League before a big game against Manchester United next weekend.
