Chelsea hitman Eden Hazard has announced his return to full fitness and top form ahead of a pretty critical week for Antonio Conte’s Premier League champions.
The Belgian star struck the winning goal for Chelsea as the Blues beat Bournemouth in order to stay in the title race, currently nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.
Hazard was forced to miss the start of the season due to an ankle injury suffered during the World Cup qualifiers he played for Belgium.
Since his return to the first team, Hazard has scored three goals in three games played for the Blues in all competitions. The English champions now travel to Rome to take on AS Roma in the Champions League before facing Manchester United at home next weekend.
Speaking to Chelsea TV, Hazard was asked if he feels he is now fully fit to which he replied, “Yeah for sure, definitely. I’m training hard, the injury is the past. I’m fully ready for the next game, I just want to play.”
He continued, “A big week is coming, so it was important also for the confidence to stay high, after the game against Watford, to win at Bournemouth. We are full of confidence now, two big games in Champions League and Premier League. And we are ready to play both.”
Describing the importance of Chelsea’s win against Bournemouth, Hazard said, “It’s a massive win, massive. We should have scored more goals, but we did well in defending together and at the end of the game we had the three points, and that’s the most important thing.”
He concluded by stating, “At half-time, we just said ‘we need to keep pushing, to keep playing like this, we are playing well and the only problem is that we haven’t scored. We know the quality of the team that we can score at any time. So we did, I did, and it’s important because we won.”
