Everton caretaker boss David Unsworth was happy to hand starts to James McCarthy and Aaron Lennon in their Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea.

Unsworth sees the pair transforming their play.

He said, “We spoke about the right time and where and how to press. I thought our pressing when we went in threes and fours was good.

“It’s not as good as I want it yet. It’s something I like to do, but certainly when you put James McCarthy back into the team and Aaron Lennon into the team, Kevin Mirallas who has great pace, when you change a few personnel and implement some sort of pressing game, you get the response we got tonight.”
