The Telegraph’s Sam Wallace has suggested the Italian could return to the Premier League if his countryman Antonio Conte is on the move.
Wallace told Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement panel: “Ancelotti has pretty much been panned in Germany as tactically not up to managing their great club [Bayern].
“The mistake Chelsea always felt was that they were too trigger happy with Ancelotti, sacking him the season after he won the double.
“If Conte doesn’t last until the end of the season, which is incredible to say, would Ancelotti come back in the middle of the season? Stranger things have happened.
“They need someone who is out of work and ready to step in. It would be really interesting seeing him back at Chelsea.
“The fact is Chelsea have sacked so many managers that they will have to start employing ones they have already had, as they did with Mourinho.”
