Harry Kane is aiming to become only the third player to win three consecutive Premier League Golden Boots after Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry in the strongest race in recent memory.

The former Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle man won between 1994 and 1997 before Henry collected three between 2003 and 2006.

The Tottenham striker has improved every year, scoring 21, 25 and 29 goals in the past three seasons.

The England forward had another goalless August, but now sits joint-second in the standings on six goals with Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Morata after a superb September.

Romelu Lukaku, who Kane leapfrogged last season after scoring seven times in the final two matches, looks set to improve on last season’s tally of 25. He has made a great start to life at Manchester United following his £75million move from Everton, scoring seven to sit top of the pile.

City striker Aguero has six for the campaign, but will surely fall down the rankings as he recovers from a broken rib following a car crash in Holland. That puts pressure on team-mate Gabriel Jesus to add to his tally of four.

Morata has settled quickly at Chelsea to join that trio on six for the season, while Alexandre Lacazette is enjoying life at Arsenal with four already.
