Manchester City lead the Premier League table on goal difference as domestic football goes on the backburner with the arrival of the international break.

England need just one win from games against Slovenia and Lithuania to guarantee their place at the finals of World Cup 2018 in Russia.

And Gareth Southgate’s side going into those games with key players in good form.

Marcus Rashford again impressed for Manchester United as they ran out 4-0 winners against Crystal Palace on Saturday, while Tottenham’s Harry Kane scored twice in their victory at Huddersfield by the same scoreline.

But it’s City who currently top the pile.

Kevin de Bruyne’s second half goal proved enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to take all three points at Stamford Bridge as reigning champions Chelsea suffered their second league defeat at home of the season.

Fabian Delph filled in a left back for City after Benjamin Mendy ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament, and will be sidelined until the new year having undergone surgery.

But Delph, who also scored in the recent win over Palace, is one of the fresh faces called up to the England squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
