Sergio Aguero will be assessed by Manchester City‘s medical team on Friday after the striker was involved in a car accident in Amsterdam.

The 29-year-old reportedly fractured his rib when a taxi he was travelling in hit a lamp post on Thursday evening.

City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and club doctors will determine the striker’s condition ahead of the match.

“Sergio Aguero will be assessed by Club doctors today [Friday] after being involved in a road accident on Thursday,” a club statement said.

“The City forward was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries.”

“He will return to Manchester this morning and his status will be checked ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash at Chelsea.”
