Chelsea want to make a statement of intent as the Premier League champions host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Antonio Conte’s Blues began the campaign with a 3-2 home defeat by Burnley, but have won their next three games – including a 2-1 Wembley victory against Tottenham – to ally fears of a similar title defence to Jose Mourinho’s ill-fated end to life at Chelsea.

While Chelsea will be confident heading into Sunday’s clash, Arsene Wenger needs a result to get the critics off his back after a tough start to the season.

Arsenal have beaten Chelsea in their last two domestic matches – the FA Cup Final and Community Shield – but two defeats in the Gunners’ opening four League games means Wenger can ill-afford another loss so early in the campaign.

Conte has a few selection dilemmas heading into Sunday’s match.

Davide Zappacosta starred on his full Chelsea debut in the 6-0 Champions League win against Qarabag. Victor Moses should retain his place against Arsenal, but Conte will be wary that the Nigerian international was sent off against the Gunners in the FA Cup Final.

Gar Cahill is also available for selection in defence after completing his three-match suspension, meaning Conte must disappoint at least one central defender this weekend.

The likes of Willian and Michy Batshuayi also impressed against Qarabag, while Eden Hazard came on to build up his match fitness.

Wenger rested a number of key players for Arsenal’s Europa League clash against Cologne on Thursday night, while Alexis Sanchez is likely to start at Stamford Bridge.

Predicted line-ups

Chelsea starting XI: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill; Moses, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso; Pedro, Morata, Hazard

Arsenal starting XI: Cech; Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal; Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac; Sanchez, Ozil, Lacazette
