Chelsea have destroyed Azerbaijani champions Qarabag 6-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

On the first match day of the Champions League group stage, a double from Michy Batshuayi. as well as goals from Pedro, Cesar Azpilicueta and debut goals from Davide Zappacosta and Tiemoue Bakayoko, ensured the Blues started well in their return to the competition.

It only took five minutes for Pedro to open the scoring for Antonio Conte‘s side. Willian picked up the ball from the short corner and found the Spaniard twenty yards from goal. With all the time in the world, Pedro struck home with consummate ease.

Zappacosta made it two after just under half an hour with an incredible strike, fizzing the ball past Qarabag goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic.

The visitors problems were compounded early after the restart when Azipilicueta put the game beyond reach, heading the ball from close range after being left unmarked by the Qarabag defenders.

Three goals in the last twenty minutes and it could have been much more.

Overall, a dominant night for Chelsea against inferior opposition, which is just what they would have wanted with Arsenal set to visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
