Football never stops. Except the Premier League once in a while. Luckily when it does, there’s some international football to keep us busy. Here’s the past 7 days in international football (in 140 characters or less).
Although the top leagues around the world found themselves on hold, that didn’t stop the transfer craziness from rolling on, with Roma announcing new signing Schick in an … interesting way.
The international break week started with a bit of drama as former England star Wayne Rooney found himself in legal trouble after being caught drink driving. Ex-teammate Rio Ferdinand saw a chance to open some old wounds.
Moving onto football. 3 more sides cemented their places at the Russia World Cup, with Belgium taking their spot and extending their good run of form thanks to a certain Manchester United front man.
Belgium are unbeaten in World Cup qualification matches since 2009:
The first of the CONCACAF sides to qualify was also confirmed, with Mexico taking their place for a 7th straight tournament.
Japan were the final team to qualify this week, comfortably beating Australia 2-0. Some Australians were none too pleased.
Wallabies – we are the worst sports team
Cricketers – hold my beer
The talk of the international break however was undoubtedly on 17 year old Welsh wonderboy Ben Woodburn, who scored an absolute screamer on his international debut.
