Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata came off the bench to score for Spain as Julen Lopetegui’s side hammered Italy to take hold of their World Cup qualification group.

The Spaniards were comfortable with Real Madrid’s Isco causing the Azzurri persistent problems and scoring twice.

Morata, who was named amongst the substitutes at the Santiago Bernabeu, made a goalscoring return to his former home ground just six minutes after replacing Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta in the second half to round off the 3-0 win.

The goal, a close range effort from Sergio Ramos’ cross, means that the 24-year-old has now been directly involved with five goals in his last four games for both club and country and it could have been six, but his headed goal was chalked off for offside.

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic both played the full 90 minutes as Wales beat Austria 1-0 in Cardiff thanks to a fantastic goal from Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn.
