Chelsea have finally agreed a £39.8million deal to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.
A move for the midfielder has been touted throughout the summer, with complications over a medical stalling proceedings.
Manchester United even threatened to challenge the Premier League champions for the 22-year-old, but Chelsea have now all but signed the player.
The move could be completed within the next 48 hours, and further payments could follow the initial £39.8m fee, depending on Bakayoko’s success.
His arrival could pave the way for Nemanja Matic’s departure, with Manchester United still interested in the Serbian.
The Times report that United ‘hope that Chelsea will agree to sell Matic for a similar fee’.
Bakayoko will become Chelsea’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger.
