Romelu Lukaku has posted a goodbye message to Everton, with Manchester United due to officially announce his signing on Monday.
Lukaku was expected to leave Everton this summer, but it was thought that former club Chelsea would be his destination.
However, late last week Manchester United hijacked the deal, agreeing a £75million fee with the Goodison Park club ahead of a British record deal.
Lukaku underwent a medical in Los Angeles over the weekend, and is expected to meet up with his new teammates on United’s tour of the United States, after their 27-man pre-season squad was announced.
United are expected to officially confirm Lukaku as their player by Monday, and the 24-year-old has bid farewell on Instagram to Everton after four successful years.
‘I want to say a big thank you to all the people involved at Everton.
‘I want to thank the fans for your support throughout the four years we’ve spent together. You guys helped me through all my games and I can proudly say it was an honour to play in front of you.
‘To the staff at the stadium and training ground, thank you for making me feel home from the first day I walked in.
‘To my teammates, it was great to play with you guys.
‘To technical staff, thank you for helping me become a better player. Working with you guys has been a pleasure and I’ll take your advice throughout the rest of my career.
‘Thank you Everton Football Club.’
