Antonio Conte has denied claims that he has demanded more control over transfers at Chelsea.

Conte is currently locked in contract talks with the Blues, and while he is expected to sign a new deal this summer, he is thought to have requested more of a say regarding transfers after two poor windows.

Chelsea have signed just four players since appointing Conte as manager last summer, and only one of those – N’Golo Kante – was chosen by the Italian himself.

It was claimed that Conte harboured frustrations over three first teamers being sold and not replaced in the winter window, with Oscar, Branislav Ivanovic and John Obi Mikel all departing.

When asked about reports that he was unhappy with a lack of control regarding recruitment, the Italian replied: “I don’t understand this. It’s not true.”

He continued: “I have a good relationship [with the board], when I need something I speak with the club and we always try to find the right solution together.

“If we always take the right decision is difficult to say, but we always take the decisions together.”
