Lamine Kone could yet quit Sunderland in January.

The Sunday Mirror says the 27-year-old Ivory Coast international had demanded a move in the summer but was persuaded to sign a new deal.

He is a player that manager David Moyes is keen to keep as he battles to steer the club away from relegation.

The asking price for Kone will be in excess of £10million – but that is unlikely to deter the likes of Everton, West Ham, Chelsea and possibly Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho could also be tempted, with his first-choice Eric Bailly out for three months.
