That’s according to Saints hero Matt Le Tissier who believes the club can halt Antonio Conte’s side at St Mary’s.
The former striker has backed Virgil van Dijk to take care of current Premier League top goalscorer Diego Costa.
He told Sky Sports: “Virgil van Dijk is the perfect player to deal with Diego Costa.
“He’s got all the right physical attributes to handle him, with strength and pace, and he’s also got the right temperament to not get wound up by him.
“Virgil van Dijk is the perfect player to deal with [Chelsea striker] Diego Costa”
Southampton hero Matt Le Tissier
“He’s been outstanding all season. Maybe he could have done better for Manchester City’s goal in letting Kelechi Iheanacho get the wrong side of him, but you’d be nit picking.”
Le Tissier highlighted Eden Hazard as Chelsea’s main threat for the Saints tomorrow.
He added: “Eden Hazard is probably more of a worry for me than Costa and Cuco Martina will have to have a great game to stem his threat.
“However, he’ll have plenty of help. Oriol Romeu, Jordy Clasie and Steven Davis will sit in and protect the full-backs, so he’ll get that extra support when Hazard cuts inside onto his right foot.”
Southampton beating Chelsea wouldn’t be an upset though, at least that’s the opinion of Le Tissier.
He explained: “Some might call it an upset if we win, but we’ve lost one game in the last 10, which was an absolute robbery when we dominated Inter Milan at the San Siro.
“I hope Chelsea underestimate us as much as the bookies have – 2/1 is a very generous price and I wouldn’t have us as outsiders.”
