Chelsea spent £32m to sign Kante from champions Leicester in the summer transfer window and the midfielder has been a regular in Antonio Conte’s side.
Kante delivered his best performance in a Blues shirt in yesterday’s 4-0 mauling of Manchester United.
“Kante’s performances have been so impressive this season”
BBC pundit Garth Crooks
The midfielder even bagged a rare goal, dancing through United’s defence before slotting home past David De Gea.
Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp recently claimed Kante was struggling to reproduce his performances from last season.
But BBC pundit and ex-Spurs striker Crooks believes Kante, who was nominated for the PFA prize last season, is an early contender for the end of year gong.
“Admittedly, the celebrations signalled the complete and total demolition of United but it also signified the affection in which the Frenchman is held by his team-mates.
“What was even more impressive was the way Kante waltzed around defender Chris Smalling and slid the ball past keeper David de Gea with nonchalant ease.
“Kante’s performances have been so impressive this season that I have been left with no alternative but to put the France international on the early shortlist, with Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, for the PFA player of the year – and we are only in October.”
