Michy Batshuayi has expressed his delight at joining Chelsea and revealed he is already impressed with what he has seen at the club, the Metro reports.
Batshuayi, 22, became Antonio Conte’s first signing when the Blues parted with £33m to sign the striker from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille- clearly impressed with the youngster’s ability in front of goal highlighted by a return of 23 goals in his final season in the south of France.
Chelsea had staved off fierce competition from the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace to sign Batshuayi but the striker has revealed it has been a ‘dream’ of his to play for a club of Chelsea’s stature.
“It feels fantastic to be here, it’s a childhood dream for me so I’m very happy,” the Belgium international told Chelsea’s official magazine.
“It’s a magnificent feeling. Just being at the training ground for one day I can see it’s very big and you feel you’ve joined a club that really want to win. Everything is new and that is exciting.”
Chelsea’s new boss, Antonio Conte, has already outlined his desire for his players to work hard in matches and on the training pitch and Batshuayi has revealed he is excited at linking up with the Italian.
The former Marseille ace added: “It’s a great opportunity. He is a manager who works very hard and likes people to work hard for him as well. I am very pleased to come and play for him here at Chelsea.”
Batshuayi featured in his first Chelsea game in the comprehensive 3-0 victory over WAC RZ Pellets and will be hoping for more minutes during Chelsea’s tour of the USA, where they will be joined by returning Euro 2016 stars like Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.
