Chelsea this morning have announced that club legend and record goalscorer Frank Lampard will be Maurizio Sarri’s successor. Frank Lampard becomes the first English manager since Glen Hoddle 23 years ago!

The Chelsea legend has signed on a three year deal and fans are over the moon with the appointment, flooding to social media to praise the Chelsea great and give him the warm welcome home that he deserves.

Frank Lampard originally signed for the club in June 2001, after an £11 million move from childhood club West Ham, just over 18 years later he has now returned back to the club as the new manager.

Frank Lampard himself showed his excitement in his first ever interview as the Chelsea manager. Frank went on to say, “I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach, everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared.”

The Chelsea legend however, remained very much on task insisting “I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started.”

Frank Lampard now becomes the 10th full-time manager appointed by Roman Abramovich since he bought the club in 2003.
