10 – Barry Bridges – 93

In July 1956, Barry Bridges was signed by Chelsea having been spotted whilst playing for Norwich. He turned professional in May 1958 making his debut for Chelsea and over his career, proved himself a prolific goalscorer.

9 – George Hilsdon – 108

George Richard Hilsdon (10 August 1885 – 10 September 1941) transferred from West Ham to Chelsea in 1906, and was the first player to score 100 goals for the West London club, reaching a then-record 108 goals from 134 games by the time of his return to West Ham in 1912

Hilsdon was nicknamed “Gatling Gun” because his shots were “simply unstoppable.”

8 – George Mills – 125

George Robert Mills (born December 29th 1908), started his professional career when he signed for Chelsea as an amateur in 1929 from Bromley and stayed at the club for the rest of his career. He was a prolific goal scorer in his time there, notching 125 goals in 239 games.

 7 – Jimmy Greaves – 132

Jimmy Greaves debuted for Chelsea on 24th August 1957, where they drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspurs. He made his debut at only 17 years old and went on to become one of Chelsea’s highest goalscorers. One of his most notable matches was where Greaves scored five goals in a 6–2 win against league champions Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third match of the 1958–59 season.

5 – Peter Osgood – 150

Peter Leslie Osgood was signed by Chelsea as a junior and made his debut as a 17-year-old in the League. In total, Osgood made 289 appearances for Chelsea over his career, scoring 105 goals. He went to score a remaining 45 goals at Chelsea in the F.A. and League Cups as well as in European matches. He won 177 games over this time at the club and is joint 5th with Roy Bentley in the Top 10 list.

5 – Roy Bentley – 150

In January 1948 Bentley signed for London side Chelsea for £12,500.  His Chelsea career took off slowly as he struggled to adapt to an unfamiliar style of play. From there, however, Bentley’s fortunes changed. His ability to oppose defenders combined with a powerful shot, made him one of the top 5 Chelsea goal scorers with 150 goals over his career joining Peter Osgood at a joint 5th place in our Top 10 list!

4 – Didier Drogba – 163

Didier Yves Drogba Tébily (born 11 March 1978) is an Ivorian professional footballer who signed for Chelsea in July 2004 for £24 million, he has scored more goals than any other foreign player and is currently the club’s fourth highest goal scorer of all time.

3 – Kerry Dixon – 193

Born in Luton in 1961, Kerry Dixon was to become a Chelsea FC legend in every sense of the word.

Dixon’s impact at Chelsea was immediate; he scored two goals on his debut against Derby County. He scored a total of 193 goals in 420 appearances in all competitions, at the time making him Chelsea’s 2nd most prolific scorer in their history after Bobby Tambling. Surely if he’d stayed longer, he would have surpassed Bobby by some distance.

2 – Bobby Tambling – 202

Robert Victor “Bobby” Tambling (born 18 September 1941) is an English former professional footballer, who played as a forward, most notably for Chelsea, Crystal Palace and England. He was Chelsea’s all-time top scorer for 47 years, with 202 goals in only 370 games. In 1970 he transferred to Crystal Palace.

1 – Frank Lampard – 211

Frank James Lampard OBE (born 20 June 1978) is an English former professional footballer. He is the all-time leading goal scorer for Chelsea, scoring 211 goals over his 13 year career, and is considered by a number of journalists and football experts to be one of the greatest midfielders of his generation. He is also regarded as Chelsea’s greatest ever player by some Chelsea players, such as previous record goal-scorer Bobby Tambling and long-term teammate John Terry.
