Andreas Christensen believes Arsenal will be “difficult” opponents for champions Chelsea this weekend despite the Gunners’ troubles on the road this term.

After narrowly beating Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the new Premier League season, Arsenal then suffered back-to-back away defeats to Stoke and Liverpool.

They recovered with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth last Saturday, however, and now face Cologne in the Europa League on Thursday evening before a trip to Stamford Bridge awaits the north Londoners on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s side have lost their last five visits to west London in the league although his Arsenal side did defeat Chelsea in the FA Cup final in May and then the Community Shield in August.

And Christensen, who played the entirety of Chelsea’s 6-0 Champions League win against Qarabag on Tuesday, admitted the Blues aren’t taking the Gunners lightly because of the quality they possess in their team.

When asked about the London derby, the 21-year-old told talkSPORT: “We are looking forward to that, it’s come quicky. This month, we don’t have too much time off.

“We have to work hard in the training ground and I think everyone is looking forward to the week coming.

“You can’t look at that [Arsenal’s two away losses this season]. You just look at the players they have and the team they got.

“We know how difficult it’s going to be.”
