The Premier League returns after the international break with a selection of appetite-whetting fixtures.

The weekend starts with Manchester City hosting Liverpool in the traditional early kick-off before Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all in action at 3pm.

Manchester United travel to Stoke City to round off Saturday before Burnley host Crystal Palace and Swansea City visit Newcastle United on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino held their pre-match press conferences on Thursday, with a host of other managers due in front of the media today.

Plus, the transfer window may be closed but there’s still transfer news – Vincent Janssen to join Fenerbahce on loan – and rumours aplenty.

ALLI FACES BAN

Dele Alli could face a ban as Fifa open disciplinary proceedings over his gesture during England’s World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.

The midfielder was caught on television cameras, with both player and England manager Gareth Southgate insisting afterwards it was jokingly aimed at Kyle Walker.

“We can confirm that disciplinary proceedings have been opened following this incident. Please understand we cannot comment further at this stage,” a Fifa spokesperson said.

Let’s start with the surprise transfer news of the morning. After struggling to secure a loan deal for Diego Costa, Fenerbahce have turned attentions to Vincent Janssen.

A club statement read: “Our club, in principle, has agreed with the player himself and his club on the loaning of Dutch national team striker Vincent Janssen from Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur.

“The 23-year-old striker will arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 12:30 today [Friday, September 8] and negotiations will continue in Istanbul.”
