Fenerbahce are trying to convince rebel Chelsea striker Diego Costa to join them on loan until January.

It has been reported in Turkey that Costa’s lawyer Ricardo Cardoso has been in Istanbul for the past three days to negotiate a move.

The transfer window in Turkey closes on Friday so time is running out for a move to be completed.

However, Fenerbahce would offer Costa the opportunity to get back to match fitness and play football again before the new year.

The 28-year-old has been AWOL in Brazil since mid-July and has refused to return to Chelsea for training.

He wanted a permanent move to former club Atletico Madrid, but despite positive talks over an initial £41m deal last week, a transfer didn’t materialise.

Costa is being encouraged by the Spain national team and Atletico Madrid to find a quick solution.

The striker, who is paid £150,000-a-week, is several weeks short of match fitness but his dream of playing for Spain at the World Cup next summer and securing a move to Atletico in January are at risk unless he gets back into peak condition as soon as possible.

The reports in Turkey suggest that Fenerbahce are willing to pay a significant amount of Costa’s wages.

However, Chelsea couldn’t confirm whether discussions with Fenerbahce are taking place when contacted by Standard Sport this morning.
