Antonio Conte has admitted that Nemanja Matic will be “a gross loss” for Chelsea this season following his transfer to Manchester United.
The 28-year-old completed a move to Old Trafford on July 31 for £40million after winning the Premier League title with the Blues last term.
Conte had hinted previously that he was unhappy that the club had chosen to let the Serbian midfielder leave Stamford Bridge and now he has confirmed that his sale will hit his side hard.
“Matic knows very well what I think about him,” Conte told Sky Sports. “The importance for me about this player, as I repeat he’s a really real good player, he’s a really strong player, very important for our team.
“But sometimes I think you must accept this crazy transfer market. Sometimes you must accept different decisions.
“But I repeat – for sure this a gross loss, a great loss for us.”
