Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has conceded that he would be powerless to prevent the sale of Eden Hazard to Barcelona if the club accepted a British record transfer fee.
Conte bristled on Friday when asked about Nemanja Matic, making it clear that it was the club’s decision to weaken his squad.
Belgian winger Hazard has now been strongly linked with Barcelona after the exit of Neymar, and Conte admits that the final decision will not be his.
“Eden Hazard is a really top player, but I repeat I am the coach and I can give my opinion. But the final decision is always the club’s,” said Conte.
“I expect Eden to play for Chelsea. It is not the right moment to lose a player or players.”
