• Stoke Set to Beat Premier League Rivals to Sign Chelsea's Kurt Zouma on Season-Long Loan Deal

    News Mon 17 Jul 2017

Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma is set to complete a season long loan move to Stoke City in the imminent future, according to reports.

Mark Hughes’ side have apparently seen off competition from Premier League rivals including West Brom to land the French centre back, and photos have circulated on twitter of the player in Stoke’s training kit already.

22-year-old Zouma has been plagued with injury over the last few seasons, but will now look to rebuild his reputation in the Potteries.

He managed 12 appearances in total for Chelsea last season, although he is clearly not a first choice for Antonio Conte and will be hoping to get some prolonged game time under his belt.

Tony Pulis’ West Brom were also thought to be interested in the French international, however it seems as though Mark Hughes men have secured the Frenchman’s signature from under their noses.

Zouma’s first team prospects at Chelsea seem further limited after the signing of Antonio Rudiger.

The German joined Chelsea for £30m from Roma last week, in a move which looks to have paved the way for Zouma to go out on loan.

Stoke were thought to be closing in on a permanent deal for Porto’s Bruno Martins Indi after his successful loan spell last season. However reports last week claimed that Crystal Palace were set to beat Stoke to the signing of the Dutch international such that they have had to turn their attention elsewhere.

Stoke’s centre-back search has led them to Zouma and a loan deal could be completed in the coming weeks, if they are beaten to the signature of Martins Indi.
