Did Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi play some crucial part in the signing of Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko?
Maybe so, if you are to believe the newly-arrived France international, who set the Blues back a cool £40m.
The signing looks to be a good one for Chelsea, with Bakayoko helping Monaco win the Ligue 1 title last season and forming a powerful midfield partnership with Brazilian Fabinho.
He may well now strike up a similar collaboration with Chelsea star N’Golo Kante, who was a crucial part of Antonio Conte’s side as they won the Premier League last season, but the deal may not have happened if it wasn’t for Batshuayi.
The Belgium international, who has built up a large Twitter following thanks to his witty remarks over the past year or so, was thanked by Bakayoko for making the deal possible.
Was the former Marseille man involved at all? Probably not, but keep your eye on social media over the next year or so for some entertaining Twitter sagas between the two Chelsea stars.
