Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi has proven once again why he is the king of Twitter, making light of Nathaniel Chalobah’s departure to Watford.
Thursday evening saw the Hornets confirm their acquisition of the England Under-21 star in a deal that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Chalboah signed a five-year contract, with Marco Silva’s side signing the youngster for only £5m.
As Chelsea’s torrid transfer window continues, and another exciting youth prospect leaves the Blues’ ranks, Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi seemed devastated by the news – but still managed to crack a joke and continue his Twitter domination.
The tweet, of course, refers to the fact that during their time together at Chelsea, the pair would often be confused for each other – Batshuayi and Chalobah having a similar appearance.
However, the two might find one more thing in common other than what they look like, as Batshuayi looks to be close to also exiting Stamford Bridge.
Despite impressing whenever given the opportunity to (Batshuayi scored the goal that earned Chelsea the Premier League title last season), those opportunities often came few and far between in the Belgian’s debut season for the Blues – only starting one Premier League game all term.
Even with Diego Costa set to leave west London this summer, the 23-year-old will still find opportunities scarce, with Conte all but sure to replace the outward bound Spaniard with someone even more expensive.
Having said that, Conte may be forced to turn to Batshuayi, with the hunt for a new striker proving difficult. The Blues missed out on Romelu Lukaku this summer, and are continually being frustrated by the likes of Alvaro Morata and Andrea Belotti.
