• Arsenal Linked With Chelsea Midfielder as Part of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Swap Deal

    ​Arsenal are set to offer Chelsea Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in exchange for midfield hard-man Nemanja Matic, as the Gunners look to become the latest club interested in the Serbian enforcer.

    Matic has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, linking up again with former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford – for a reported £40m.


    However, after the saga of United stealing Romelu Lukaku from under Antonio Conte’s nose, many reports have begun to claim that Chelsea are a lot less willing to sell the central midfielder to the Red Devils (Inter Milan and Juventus are also believed to be interested in his services).

    But now, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal are preparing to offer Chelsea Alex Oxlade-Chamblerlain in exchange for Matic.

    The rumour would come as a surprise to many, as this is the first time the north London outfit have been linked with a move for the Chelsea man; but whether the Blues would go ahead with the deal is another question.

    In Chamberlain, Conte would receive a versatile midfielder capable of playing anywhere down the right hand side of the pitch as well as in the centre – which is always useful. 

    But, after such a strong showing last season from the Premier League champions, Chamberlain would be unlikely to displace anyone in the starting XI, especially seeing as he was on the fringes of the Arsenal team that finished fifth.

    Though it is very early stages, and the reports are merely rumours at the moment, this could well pick up pace, and the deal might be a very good one for Arsenal given Matic’s defensive capabilities.
