Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko has put Manchester United fans on red alert, after he responded to rumours that he is joining the club, saying that they are true.
The midfielder has since deleted the tweet – but thanks to screenshots and some keen United fans, his post has since gone viral.
Jose Mourinho has already stolen Romelu Lukaku from under the noses of his former side Chelsea this summer, and should Bakayoko sign, it’s sure to cause more unrest in Conte’s camp.
The Blues have reportedly offered £35m for the Frenchman’s signature – an offer that United are more than willing to top. According to the Times, the Red Devils are willing to offer £40m for the rampaging midfielder after their efforts to sign Nemanja Matic stalled.
The 22-year-old had an impressive campaign last year, helping Monaco to win their first Ligue 1 title for 17 years and reaching the Champions League semi-finals, only to be knocked out by Juventus.
At such a young age, Bakayoko will provide any side he joins with many years of powerful midfield dominance, but it remains to be seen whether he will be wearing the red of United or the blue of Chelsea next year.
