Crystal Palace have officially completed the signing of England Under-21 midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a season-long loan from Chelsea as the youngster looks to secure a greater level of first-team opportunities.
“I had the option of coming to Palace and I thought that it would be great for me,” an enthusiastic Loftus-Cheek told CPFC.co.uk.
“I live not too far away, I was born in Lewisham and Palace is good club so I thought it’s a good chance to play here and be a part of the team,” he added.
“They have a very strong team and I’d like to be a part of that this season.”
The 21-year-old is the second home-grown player to leave Chelsea on loan for another Premier League club this month following Tammy Abraham’s recent move to Swansea.
Loftus-Cheek has previously played 32 times in all competitions for Chelsea since making his debut under Jose Mourinho in a Champions League game in October 2014. He has two Premier League winner’s medals in his collection already.
