Turkish giants Fenerbahce have opened discussions over a potential move for Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.
It is not known whether they are looking to seal a permanent transfer or whether they are offering the Belgian striker the option of a season-long loan after a disappointing debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
According to Foot Mercato, per GFFN, the Super Lig side have made Batshuayi their number one target for the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old will be desperate for first-team football with the 2018 World Cup only a year away and he may have to leave Chelsea in order to get it.
The former Marseille man made just one Premier League start all season, making 19 appearances from the bench and scoring five goals.
If he is to challenge the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Dries Mertens, Divock Origi and Christian Benteke in the Belgium team, he will need more game time.
Chelsea may be losing Diego Costa this summer but their desperation to replace him with a mega-money signing hints that Batshuayi has little chance of improving his minutes on the pitch in 2017/18.
Fenerbahce would likely be able to provide him with a starting berth on a regular basis as they’re known to be on the lookout for Robin van Persie’s replacement.
The 33-year-old Dutchman was a rumoured target for Crystal Palace after a fairly poor season in Turkey’s top-flight. Batshuayi would be a huge coup for the Istanbul-based side, although, Chelsea should be wary of him leaving on a permanent basis.
