Chelsea academy graduate Ruben Loftus-Cheek looks set to join Crystal Palace on a season-long loan, according to a West London Sport report.
Loftus-Cheek made just 11 appearances for the Blues last season, with all six of his league appearances coming as a substitute.
The 21-year-old has been pursued by various clubs, including newly promoted Brighton, Newcastle and West Ham, though the young midfielder looks to be moving to the south of the capital this summer.
Chelsea have been consistently linked with Monaco’s midfielder enforcer Tiemoue Bakayoko, and should he sign, Loftus-Cheek may well find his already limited playing opportunities further diminished.
With newly appointed Palace manager Frank de Boer keen to strengthen his squad after a nervy start to last year’s campaign, Chelsea Boss Antonio Conte has reportedly approved the move and the Eagles look set to land Loftus-Cheek in the coming days.
Fellow Chelsea youngsters Kasey Palmer and Tammy Abraham joined Huddersfield and Swansea on loan in recent weeks, and Loftus-Cheek will be keen to reassert his importance to his parent club after three seasons of involvement in Chelsea’s first team squad.
Frank de Boer is reportedly a great admirer of the England U21 international, who missed this summer’s World Cup triumph with a back injury.
Loftus-Cheek’s current contract with the Premier League champions runs until June 2021.
