• Chelsea Look to Sign Real Madrid Duo After Missing Out on Man Utd-Bound Romelu Lukaku

    News Sun 9 Jul 2017

Chelsea have made a move to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

The Blues look set to miss out on Romelu Lukaku after Manchester United had a £75m bid accepted by Everton and the Belgium international will rejoin former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

With Diego Costa on his way out of the club after being told by Antonio Conte via text message that he will not be playing for the club next season, Chelsea are in desperate need of a first-team striker and have set their sights on Madrid and Spain forward Morata.

Despite being unable to secure a regular starting position under Zinedine Zidane due to the presence of Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu, Morata still managed to score an impressive 15 goals in 26 La Liga appearances, also chipping in with four assists as Los Blancos won Spain’s top division and the Champions League.

Sky Italy claim Chelsea are interested in the 24-year-old, while they are also plotting a move for his Madrid teammate Danilo, who has been kept out of the team due to the form of first choice right-back Dani Carvajal.

Danilo joined Madrid from Porto in 2015 and would provide competition for Victor Moses, who impressed at right wing-back as Chelsea won the Premier League playing with three centre-backs.

The Nigeria international kept Branislav Ivanovic out of Conte’s side and contributed going forward, providing width, scoring three goals and adding two assists.
