Chelsea have registered an interest in Real Madrid full-back Danilo and are ready to make a concrete offer for the Brazilian international.
Juventus were thought to be the frontrunners for the former Porto defender, however, the Serie A giants have cooled their interest due to Los Blancos’ financial demands for the player.
Antonio Conte is keen to add a new right-back to his squad in order to provide competition for both Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says the Blues are the favourites to sign Danilo with Juventus now keen on Bayern Munich’s Douglas Costa to fill the non-EU spot in their squad.
However, he will not come cheap, with Real likely to demand a figure close to £30m as they try to recoup most of the fee they paid Porto for his services in 2015.
Chelsea are also keen on Danilo’s former teammate, Alex Sandro, with the Juve man rumoured to be close to sealing a move to the Premier League champions.
Conte has clearly identified the full-back areas as his priority in the market but he may have to switch his attention to a new striker in the coming weeks.
The Blues boss has been left frustrated so far this summer with the club yet to make a signing and they appear to have lost out to Manchester United in the race for Romelu Lukaku.
With Diego Costa set to leave, Conte desperately needs a striker to go with his potential defensive arrivals and Real’s Alvaro Morata could be the ideal solution.
