Mino Raiola has played a ‘vital’ role in persuading Manchester United to move for Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.
Lukaku has been linked with a move to Chelsea throughout the summer, but United stole a march on their rivals on Thursday by reportedly agreeing a £75million fee with Everton.
Other reports claim that United have not agreed a fee but have held ‘positive talks’ with representatives at Goodison Park, and are ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign the striker.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Lukaku’s agent Raiola is to thank for the dramatic turn of events.
They report that United ‘received a tip off’ from Raiola that a move could be possible, as Chelsea’s negotiations with Everton had been ‘slow’.
The story adds that Lukaku once favoured a move to Chelsea, but that he ‘has been convinced that Old Trafford represents a good option’.
Raiola represents a number of United players already, including Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sergio Romero. He also represents Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left the club this summer after a whirlwind year.
One thing is for sure: The boy Romelu has some ridiculous statistics.
