Chelsea have won the race for Ajax starlet Daishawn Redan, as the 16-year-old striker was pictured putting pen to paper on a deal at Stamford Bridge.
The highly-rated young striker has been touted for super stardom after being regarded as one of the most promising players to come through Ajax’s youth ranks in recent times – leading to a number of European giants tracking the 16-year-old’s progress.
However, Chelsea look to have got their man ahead of the likes of Manchester United, RB Leipzig and Manchester City.
As reported by VI, Redan has now signed for Chelsea after confirmation from the 16-year-old was publicised on his Instagram account, where he posted a picture with the caption: “It’s official I have signed a contract with Chelsea.”
Redan played regularly for Ajax’s Under-19 side last season, but following a number of discussions the 16-year-old informed Ajax that he did not want to sign his first professional contract with the Dutch side.
Following a lack of game time, Redan was not called upon for Holland in the Under-17 European Championship, an issue which he would seemingly want rectified following his move to Chelsea.
The teenager is understood to be Chelsea’s second signing of the summer following the acquisition of 16-year-old French stopper Nicolas Tie.
