Swansea City have officially confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.
The news comes on the same day that teenage striker Abraham penned a new long-term contract with his parent club that will keep him a Chelsea player for another five years until 2022.
The 19-year-old will now link up with the Swans, where he will play under former Chelsea assistant coach Paul Clement, for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Abraham scored 26 goals in 48 appearances on a loan at Championship side Bristol City last season and it is hoped that he will now have the chance to play regularly in the top flight for the first time, testing himself at a higher level as his development continues.
Abraham has twice previously played for Chelsea’s first-team, making his debut under the management of interim boss Guus Hiddink in the closing stages of the 2015/16 campaign.
He is the second Swansea signing of the summer after Dutch goalkeeper Erwin Mulder, with Spanish midfielder Roque Mesa also to join from Las Palmas for £11m later this week.
