Romelu Lukaku has hit back at the British press over linking him with a Chelsea move by posting a tongue-in-cheek video on his official Instagram account.
The Everton star, who has been tipped to return to the Premier League champions in the close season, saw rumours suggesting a move to Stamford Bridge was back on the cards after he played on a five-a-side pitch – lined with borders displaying Chelsea’s logo – whilst on holiday in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Clearly the striker was just getting in some practice during some downtime ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, but that didn’t stop the press from stating that it was further proof of a possible switch to the English capital from Merseyside.
Evidently perturbed by that speculation, Lukaku decided to take to social media with a new piece of footage on Tuesday, and poked fun at the media by saying he would be playing on a pitch devoid of anything Chelsea related:
Lukaku said: “You can see I’m here playing football today in LA. But look no banners. I hope you’re all happy. Have a good day.”
Lukaku’s riposte comes as gossip columns continue to allege that it is only a matter of time before the 23-year-old rejoins Chelsea after four seasons with the Toffees.
The Belgium international, who plundered 26 goals in all competitions for Ronald Koeman’s men last term, is edging towards the Goodison Park exit door after he rejected the offer of a new club-record contract worth £140k-a-week.
Smh… hearing all this BS again.. its just a 5 a side game people! Some of you need to chill ✌

Everton have slapped a world record £100m price tag on their talisman in a bid to ward off interest from Chelsea, fellow North West outfit Manchester United and clubs from overseas such as PSG and Bayern Munich.
That has not prevented Antonio Conte from relenting in his pursuit of the ex-Anderlecht wonderkid though, and Chelsea will go all out to get their man – especially if Diego Costa does depart West London after he was told he was surplus to requirements under Conte.
Lukaku will reconvene with the rest of Everton’s first-team squad at the start of July for the 2017/18 pre-season schedule, and many eyes will be focused on how devoted he is to the Everton cause on his return.
