• Reports From Italy Claim Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte on the Verge of Signing New £10m Deal

    News Mon 19 Jun 2017

English Premier League champions Chelsea could be set to extend the contract of manager Antonio Conte, following rumours that the Italian may leave Stamford Bridge. Conte was the primary target of Inter Milan, who were recently the subject of a massive Chinese takeover. However, the Serie A side decided to appoint Luciano Spalletti after failing to woo Conte.

Chelsea are believed to be determined to do all they can to keep the much sought-after manager at the club, and Sky Sports Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has stated on his official Twitter page that negotiations between Conte and the West London club are making progress.

It is claimed that Conte met yesterday with Chelsea’s CEO Marina Granovskaia, as both parties attempted to find a mutually appealing agreement for the future of the charismatic Italian coach.

The 47-year-old manager is currently enjoying a well-earned holiday in Turin with his family, and is expected to sign an extension on his existing contract upon his return to England.

Conte could net a yearly income of between £9.5m and £10m, with Russian club owner Roman Abramovich set to have the final say on the specific details of the deal. Regardless, Chelsea fans will be delighted to see Conte commit his future to the club, given the rapid success he has brought to the Blues.

Conte is likely to demand assurances from Abramovich regarding the acquisition of new players during the summer transfer window.

Keen to build his own side, he is interested in a number of high profile signings to bolster his already strong squad and Juventus left-back Alex Sandro is a key target for Conte, along with Monaco’s 22-year-old defensive midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko.
