Chelsea striker Diego Costa allegedly told a fan that he intends to return to former club Atletico Madrid in January.
A commenter on Reddit claimed that the Spanish forward informed a supporter of his intention to move to Spain.
“Arsenal fan here,” the Reddit user said. “My friend who speaks a little Spanish spoke to Diego who said he hopes to stay at Chelsea until January and then move back to Atletico, but it is ‘gods will’.”
Costa’s exit now appears inevitable after a text sent by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte revealed that he is no longer in the Italian’s plans.
The Blues could now be set to receive a transfer fee of less than they paid for Costa, who has reportedly dismissed the possibility of a move to China.
Atletico are expected to propose a fee of £26m – £6m less than Chelsea paid for the player in 2014 – ahead of the end of their transfer ban in January.

“I’m a Chelsea player, but they do not want me there,” Costa has said. “Antonio Conte has told me by message that I do not follow at Chelsea and that’s it. Conte said he did not count on me for next season.”
The 28-year-old scored 20 goals in 35 Premier League appearances this season as Chelsea secured the title.
