Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi has apparently turned down the chance to move to Premier League rivals West Ham United, preferring instead to stay with Chelsea and fight for his place.
Batshuayi struggled for game time last season, and was mainly used as a stand in for Diego Costa, but according to Goal, the Belgian international is showing no desire in moving to West Ham – despite their strong interest.
Chelsea could well have a vacant hole to fill in the front line after Antonio Conte made it clear to Diego Costa that he does not want him at the club.
However, the Italian boss does seem to have his eye firmly on Romelu Lukaku, as a replacement for the outbound Costa.
The report states that Batshuayi would be willing to remain with Chelsea even if Lukaku does return to the club, but wants assurances from Conte that he wouldn’t have another season on the sidelines.
The 23-year-old will be aiming for regular first team football with the World Cup taking place next summer and a place in the Belgium national side at stake.
West Ham still face some competition in signing the youngster with French club Monaco also showing an interest.
